✂️Template Customization

Personalize the format, style, and content of your document templates to suit your specific needs. Whether you're making updates before, during, or after a session, this feature ensures that your notes are accurate, well-organized, and aligned with your workflow.

You can favourite templates for quick access or set a default template to be automatically applied to every future appointment, giving you even more control over your documentation.

Accessing the customization feature

You can access the customization feature in two ways:

  • From the Note Editor: During or after a session, simply click the magic wand icon in the note editor to open the template customization options.

  • From Menu Bar: Navigate to the Scribe Templates section from the menu bar and click on one of the current Mikata templates.

Once you are in the template mode, click on the "Customize template" button located at the right top corner and start editing your template. The original template will always remain in the Mikata library.

Customizing your template

Once you access the Customize Template feature, you can:

Preview and Real-Time Editing

As you make changes to your template, a real-time preview will show you how your document will look. This helps ensure everything appears as expected before applying the changes to your note.

  1. Change Formatting and Style

Modify the headings and overall style of your template to match your preferences or clinic standards. Adjusting the formatting ensures that your notes are structured exactly how you need them for different document types (e.g., SOAP notes, referral letters, patient handouts).

  1. Add Suggestions

Suggestions are placeholders for specific information that Mika will populate during the note-taking process. You can insert anchor points for content like:

Appointment Date

Appointment Reason

Patient Name

Practitioner Name

Subjective

Objective

Assessment

Plan

Session Start/End time

Scroll down to Mika suggestions for more information.

  1. Remove Anchor Points

If there are sections you don’t need, you can remove anchor points to prevent Mika from populating content there. This allows you to fully control where and what information is injected into your notes.

  1. Set a Default Template

If you want your custom template to be used for every appointment, pin it as the default. This ensures that your preferred template is automatically generated every time.

  1. Favorite a Template

To make your favorite template easily accessible, click on the heart icon. Favoriting a template adds it to a special list for quick access.

Once you're satisfied with your template adjustments, click "Update Template" to apply the changes to your current document.

Mika suggestions

What are Mika suggestions?

Mika Suggestions is a unique feature that allows users to customize their note-taking experience. By adding and rearranging these jellybean-like suggestions, users can receive AI-generated insights in their preferred format. Here are some guidelines of the best practices for using Mika Suggestions.

Types of Mika Suggestions

  1. Mika Data (Green)

    • This suggestion pulls data from Mika’s database, including appointment and patient details.

    • Example: appointment start time, patient name, session duration

  2. Mika Suggestions (Pink)

    • These are predefined suggestions designed to help users get AI insights tailored to general use cases.

    • Example: Subjective, Objective, Referral

  3. Mika Suggestions with customization (Purple)

    • Allows users to provide additional instructions to the Mika Suggestions (Pink) telling Mika AI what details to include or how you want your note to sound.

    • Click the "Customize all suggestions" button to customize all Mika Suggestions (Pink)

    • Click "Customize" on individual jellybeans in the editor to modify specific sections.

Writing effective instructions for customization

Instructions should be simple, specific, and include examples to ensure Mika generates notes as intended.

Example Instructions:

  • "Add two subsections capturing all physical exam findings called Physical Exam and capturing all lab and imaging findings called Lab Findings."

  • "Summarize the HPI in two sentences at the beginning, then include more detailed information below."

✅ Do
❌ Don’t
  • Ask for specific subsections

  • Write clear and concise instructions.

  • Use simple language to avoid misinterpretation.

  • Specify formatting preferences, such as prose or bullet points.

  • Try to replace a section entirely

  • Use vague or ambiguous instructions (e.g., "Make it better").

  • Overcomplicate instructions with excessive details.

  • Expect Mika to infer preferences without explicit guidance.

Example output:

Instruction: Add two subsections capturing all physical exam findings called 'Physical Exam' and capturing all lab and imaging findings called 'Lab Findings'.

Generated Output:

Physical Exam:

  • General: No acute distress, well-nourished.

  • HEENT: Normocephalic, atraumatic, no signs of infection.

  • Respiratory: Clear to auscultation bilaterally, no wheezing or rales.

  • Cardiovascular: Regular rate and rhythm, no murmurs.

  • Neurological: Alert and oriented, no focal deficits.

Lab Findings:

  • CBC: WBC 7.2 (normal), Hgb 14.1 (normal), Platelets 250 (normal).

  • CMP: Na 139, K 4.2, Creatinine 0.9, Glucose 98.

  • Imaging: Chest X-ray normal, no infiltrates or effusion noted.

Important notes

  • Personal Templates Only Your custom templates are strictly personal, meaning they cannot be shared with others.

  • Reverting to the Original Template If you ever wish to go back to the standard Mika template, simply delete your customized version. The original template will always remain available in the Mika library.
